Accepting Obama’s ‘Change’ Premise...
Written By: Frank Salvato...
DOWNERS GROVE, IL. (NS/NMJ) -
Having established that “change” can be both good and bad, both productive and destructive; I have come to the conclusion that Barack Obama is right: our country is in great need of “change.” Now before you God and gun clinging, fly-over state inhabiting political infidels lock and load and take aim at the space between my eyes, I would ask that you hear me out. There’s a good chance you will either like what I have to say or find merit in my line of thinking...
Having dedicated myself to consuming the experience that was the 2008 Democrat National Convention, I did indeed come to the conclusion that Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and the rest of the contingent that descended upon the city of Denver had one thing correct, our nation is in desperate need of change. We have allowed our political process to be hijacked and in doing so have abdicated our right to expect good government...
Whether organizational, corporate or ideological, special interest groups have taken complete control over each and every one of our governmental institutions. 527 groups, lobbyists and public action committees – in conjunction with an agenda-driven mainstream media derelict in its obligation to inform the American public of the facts – have employed the manipulation of the truth and the allure of the almighty dollar to persuade both citizen and elected official. The environmental lobby has coerced the elected class to such an extent that the mere mention of utilizing our own natural resources is met with personal attacks and demonization. Corporations and their lobbyists have abdicated any semblance of civic responsibility and national allegiance in their quest for “the highest dividends possible for their investors,” taking advantage of those who stand in their defense when criticized; those who understand the benefits of responsible capitalism. And our political system has been captured at it highest ranks in both major parties by those who would slate candidates because of their “chances of “winning” over candidates who stand up for principle, duty, honor and country...
Indeed, Mr. Obama has hit on something that I can agree with him on, we need change. As I see it we are in need of change in three specific areas: 1) Our tolerance for the lack of truth from the media and the politically opportune; 2) Our propensity for abandoning civic responsibility; 3) Our need to re-establish a connection with the core principles...
Our Tolerance for the Lack of Truth:
Listening to the speakers at the 2008 Democrat National Convention, it was easy to pick off the statements that were sincere and the ones that were politically opportune. This task became even easier when listening to the pundits and “prophets” of the mainstream media yawn and fawn over that which was said. In the end, the statements recognized as politically opportune grossly outnumbered the statements that were sincere...
A perfect example of just how disingenuous our political and media operatives have become comes in the form of the answers given to the question of duplicity where primary campaign rhetoric is concerned...
Both Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden are featured in John McCain ads declaring that Barack Obama is too inexperienced for the job of President of the United States. Clinton said that all Obama had for experience was his keynote speech at the 2004 DNC and Biden referred to Obama’s inexperience by declaring the job of president didn’t lend itself to “on the job training.” Yet at the convention, both Clinton and Obama gushed over how qualified Barack Obama is for the job...
When anchors and reporters queried the political punditry and the elected class as to why Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden exhibited such contrarian statements regarding Barack Obama’s experience and electability their answers were to either justify their hypocrisy by saying Republicans would do the same where McCain was concerned or they simply chalked it up to “politics.” At no time did any of those questioned have the courage to answer the question honestly. Such are the cultural infidels with which whose opinions we concern ourselves...
Then there is the transparent and despicable agenda of our mainstream media. From purposefully lying about McCain’s statements regarding the longevity of US military forces in Iraq and cherry-picking statements about how many “homes” he owns, to the actual reasons given for deposing Saddam Hussein’s murderous regime in the first place, the mainstream media is both so incredibly bias toward the Progressive-Left ideology and subservient to the ratings game that divining any information of worth from their wares is virtually impossible. To clarify:
▪ McCain referenced the existence of US military operatives in Germany, Japan and South Korea after each related conflict and said he could imagine the same for Iraq...not a hundred year war, a presence in conjunction with an alliance...
▪ McCain wanted to make sure he was accurate in his answer to the number of properties his family owns because there is a foundation involved that includes investment properties...
▪ The first and most serious reason given for toppling Saddam Hussein’s tyranny was the genocide of the Iraqi Kurds, not the existence of “stockpiles of WMD.” In fact, in President Bush’s September 12, 2002 speech before the UN General Assembly there is no mention of “stockpiles,” rather he alluded to the development systems in place for WMD. It was, in fact, the media and the politically opportune who re-invented the reasoning as being “stockpiles of WMD.”
Taking into consideration these few examples, it is clear that We the People have become uninterested in the quest for truth. In our apathy we have allowed out governmental system to be corrupted by privateers, opportunists and thieves...
We need to change this...
Our Propensity for Abandoning Civic Responsibility:
While we like to pretend that we all care about our country, our everyday actions prove the majority of Americans would put themselves before country, themselves before community. It is because we are apathetic to our responsibility to be good citizens that our country suffers at the hands of the aforementioned privateers, opportunists and thieves...
The Founders and Framers created the Charters of Freedom with the idea that each and every US Citizen would understand their ownership of those documents and their responsibility to protect and guard those documents – in essence, government – from the tyranny of wicked. It was for this reason that they created a system that empowered the citizenry, then the states and then the federal government. The power, our Founders and Framers intended, was to be with the people, then the states and then – and only then – the federal government. Face it, the Constitution begins with “We the People, in order to form a more perfect union...” not “We the Government, in order to establish a more perfect union...”
In our abdication of governmental oversight, in our tolerance to our elected officials and media presenting untruths and semi-truths as facts and realities, in the absence of our disdain for the narcissism of special interests, we are the ones responsible for the state of our nation, not the privateers or special interests, not the opportunistic elected class; we are responsible for the state of our country...
We need to change this...
Re-Establishing a Connection with the Core Principles In listening to the intellectual pabulum emanating from the 2008 DNC I was struck with the notion that next week, in Minneapolis, I may just be subjected to more of the same only from another vantage point. In all honesty – and that is what is demanded here – we are going to hear the same quality of overblown celebratory rhetoric from people who, it can be argued, are just as politically opportunistic as their counterparts on the Left...
This prospect led me to agree with pollster Frank Luntz, when he opined that John McCain should dispense with his acceptance speech and, instead, initiate an impromptu town hall meeting in an effort to dispense with the status quo by embracing realism. He should truly strive to be the leader of a nation of people, of constituents, not the leader of a nation constituted exclusively of political partisans...
The notion of quid pro quo also led me to examine the founding platform of the Republican Party, the platform of the 1860 convention. Then it occurred to me, if the Republican Party wants to appeal to real Americans, true Americans, if they want to adhere to their founding principles, then they have to shed the special interest issues from the national platform...
Many among the Conservative movement will take issue with this idea but the fact remains, if the Republican Party wants to adhere to the two most notable tenets of its original (read founding) platform – limited government and limited taxation – then they must shift from enlisting government to legislate special interest provisions and start engaging their communities in order to shape the consensus regarding these issues, a consensus agreed upon without governmental interference. Community engagement and education on the issues using facts must become the vehicle for change and catalyst for a renewed civic responsibility...
As it stands now, Republicans are just as guilty of acquiescing to the expansion and encroachment of government into our individual lives as are the Democrats. Because of this, the American people are, increasingly, seeing little difference between the two political parties...
Republicans must make a change in the way they approach politics and government. They must strike out on a bold new initiative to re-establish themselves as a party of good government over politics in embracing the platform that encompassed their founding principles:
▪ Civic Virtue and Engagement ▪ Individual Responsibility ▪ Adherence to the Charters of Freedom ▪ States Rights ▪ Economic Responsibility ▪ Limited Taxation ▪ The Sovereignty of Personal Property ▪ Sound Immigration Policy ▪ Dedication to the Country’s Infrastructure ▪ Opposition to Discrimination ▪ Opposition to Aristocracy ▪ Opposition to Corruption
In rededicating themselves to their core principles they can effectively embrace all avenues of society under the ideological big tent that holds these tenets as sacrosanct. In establishing these tenets, exclusively, the Republican Party can become inclusive to all avenues of thought simply by encouraging the notion of civic virtue and engagement and individual responsibility. By encouraging the individual to affect change through community engagement rather than through legislative mandate while securing the right of the individual to do so the Republican Party can rise as the phoenix from the ashes of their disgraceful 2006 election defeat to a position of strength and integrity...
Change for the benefit of the politically opportune or the ideologue or the privateer is change that can only benefit the few. Change, if done for the benefit of the country’s well-being can only benefit us all...

| Airport Security: Are We Really Safer???
Written By: Matt Bruce
SARASOTA, FL., July 29, 2007 (NS) –
I have recently spent 5 weeks working part time for a local Airport Taxi Company where I was keeping both my ears and eyes open looking for anything in the way of security related issues…
I am also an Instructor for the Department Of Homeland Security’s Operation Highway Watch program and have actively reported incidents to them before for investigation…
What I have found out about the Airports and Taxi business is just how easy it would be for anybody to climb into the drivers seat and do a dastardly deed that indeed does constitute a security risk…
First of all, to get a Taxi or Public Transportation Driver’s license only requires a small fee and a ‘very limited’ criminal background check. There are numerous drivers who are from other Countries either here legally or ‘illegally’ driving Taxi Cabs coming in and out of our Nations Airports…
In addition, I was never given a drug test for pre-employment which I myself found to be extremely ‘strange’, but then maybe there was a reason why…
I was made aware of several Drivers who ‘perhaps’ were still here working after their Green cards, Visas or Work Permits had expired. Was I able to confirm that? No, but the rumors were rampant amongst the Airport Drivers…
Also, I saw Drivers either taking pills or using drugs just to stay awake and work the ‘brutal’ hours they had to work to make a living. While I only worked 8 to 10 hours a shift for the 5 weeks I did this, there were ‘many’ Drivers working 18-20 hours per day 6 and 7 days a week…
In at least one instance, I believe I witnessed a Driver either buying or selling drugs after he came away with a small plastic bag of a white substance in it and climbed back into his Cab…
I have also seen Drivers drinking alcoholic beverages at the Airport which have included beer and small ‘shiny flasks’ that usually contain liquor in them…
How can this even be SAFE? Truck drivers, Airplane Pilots, Ships Captains, Railroad Crews and others are regulated in how long they can work by the FMCSA…
This even the Insurance Industry may not be aware of because in ‘some’ cases there are no active records of a Taxi Cab Driver who comes in to work, rent a car for the day or work a 50/50 split with his Company, then have to pay for the gas and return the Taxi full of gas for the next person to use…
Recently there was a fatal accident involving a Taxi Cab driver where the passenger riding in the Cab was killed. My first question after finding out firsthand about the daily average work hours of a Taxi Driver was “How Long Was The Driver On Duty?”…
Now here’s where a serious Homeland Security issue comes into play. Several times I actually drove my Taxi right up on the tarmac to the aircraft….
I was either picking up or dropping off passengers. With what I’ve previously explained, just how safe is this practice?
Keep in mind, nobody checked nor inspected either myself, the Taxi Cab or the passengers gaining inside access to the tarmac at the Airport…
This doesn’t even make sense to me, does it you???
The inner ‘culture’ of the Taxi Industry is actually a ‘lifestyle’ from what I could see with many Drivers actually eating and sleeping in their Cars waiting on their next fares…
Again I ask you, just how SAFE do you think this is???
So in closing, I would suggest the Taxi Cab Industry needs to be closer regulated and brought into line with the same rules and regulations that a Truck Driver has to follow…
Safety and security are an issue based on what I saw in doing my research to write this article…

Sher Zieve column...
Secular messiah Obama gets his temple...
 Sher Zieve
Just when I thought Barack Obama might be tempering a bit of his arrogance it was announced that his secular adherents are building a replica of a Greek or Roman temple-to-the-gods, in order to resurrect and reintroduce him as the worldly messiah to we-the-voting-plebeians. The edifice will sport tall Doric columns and is being built — aptly enough — inside of Denver's Mile High Stadium. Note: This individual is now telling the world — in no uncertain terms — that he not only rises above the common man but, he rises above humankind — itself...
While his wife Michelle speaks of her and her husband's humble beginnings (Obama's were not that 'humble'), with his actions Obama now tells us that he is much more than human. Obama, himself, is now proclaiming his self-assumed (if not self-absorbed) Marxist Messianic nature. And just as his followers become angered when his non-supporters proclaim Obama's messiah-complex, these same devotees build their own Temple to Obama! Note: As we already know, Democrats CAN have their cake and eat it too...
Although his official garb for his Thursday night speech-fest has yet to be announced, some are already suggesting that Obama may wear a toga — with the appropriate purple accents to indicate the he is an aristocrat. And I have yet to receive confirmation or denial that doves will be released prior to his speech as Obama floats from the sky to his designated podium in order to deliver a message that will sound good but say — essentially — nothing. By the way, his followers are already calling Obama "The One." This just gets scarier and scarier, folks...

'THE WEB OF TERROR'

International News Analysis Today By Toby Westerman
The recent near-war in Latin America indicates the deep and emotional ties between a narco-terror army and several neo-Marxist Latin American governments. The killing of a top guerrilla leader during a small cross border raid nearly led Latin America into a general war. As the alliance between guerrilla and government grows, at stake for the United States is its security and survival.
The narco-terror army is the FARC (the Spanish abbreviation for Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia), which is instrumental in bringing tons of cocaine to American streets and guerrilla training to America's enemies. The money paid by U.S. citizens to drug dealers is helping the FARC not only purchase small arms for itself and instruct other would-be terrorists, but also assit in the FARC's search for nuclear material to manufacture a "dirty bomb" that could be intended for a U.S. city.
The FARC, a Marxist rebel group, has been at war with the Colombian government for some 40 years. The war is waged both in the jungle and in the nation's cities. The struggle has cost the lives of tens of thousands of people.
Computer files captured by Colombian army units following a raid one mile inside the territory of neighboring Ecuador have documented a close cooperation between the FARC and oil-rich and neo-Marxist Venezuela.
The same documents also revealed that the FARC contributed funds to the successful 2006 election campaign of Rafael Correa, who recently declared his nation "socialist." Correa took office in January 2007.
The raid also demonstrated the international reach of the FARC. Guerrillas-in-training from several nations were killed in the raid, including would-be revolutionaries from Chile and Mexico.
The presence of the slain Mexican citizens at the raided FARC camp is particularly ominous, because Mexico is already a hotbed of communist activity, both in legimate politics and small Marxist rebel groups.
Mexican authorities are investigating a possible link between the FARC and communist Cuba's espionage services. There is evidence that an indivdiual known as Mario Dagoberto Diaz Orgaz led a number of Mexicans to the FARC camp in Ecuador. Diaz Orgaz, who had arrived in Mexico from Cuba in 2000, obtained Mexican citizenship in 2003, and is known to have carried an average monthly bank balance of $80,000. Trained in mechanical engineering in Russia, Diaz Orgaz was able to obtain an academic post in Mexico. According to the Spanish language La Nueva Cuba, Diaz Orgaz worked at Mexico's National Council for Science and Technology. His position there, however, could not have supported his substantial bank account.
Although the media rarely informs the American people of Marxist activity in Mexico, several communist guerrilla groups are active just south of the U.S. border. Mexican oil pipelines have already been attacked, as have lesser targets, and it is now a certainty that the FARC is active in the training of Mexican guerrilla-terrorists just south of America's still porous borders.
Mexican guerrillas may not have to fight for long. The former mayor of Mexico City, Lopez Obrador, was very nearly elected president. Obrador, who remains a powerful leftist candidate, is an ally of Venezuela's neo-Marxist leader, Hugo Chavez.
American citizens are directly affected by FARC actions in the region. The United States is assisting the Colombian government in its fight against FARC narcotic and revolutionary activities. U.S. financial aid and military advisors are attempting to assist Colombia in its fight against the FARC's well-financed guerrilla operations.
Three Americans are being held by the FARC, military contractors whose plane crashed in the Colombian jungle in February 2003 during a surveillance flight over a FARC-controlled area. Little media attention has been given to the three American captives who have been prisoners for five years and are known to have been tortured by their communist captors.
The names of the imprisoned Americans are Thomas Howes, Keith Stansell, and Marc Gonsalves.
In Januray 2008 the FARC vowed to keep the three captured Americans for sixty years, the same length of time given as a sentence by an American court to a FARC senior officia, known as "Simon Trinidad," after his conviction for his part in the capture of the Americans.
FARC has close ties to Chavez and his regime which are based upon political affinity, mutual hatred for the United States, and financial cooperation.
The FARC shares Chavez's "Bolivarian" ideology which combines Marx with Latin American aspirations for a higher degree of mutual political assistance. Both Chavez and the FARC see the United States as "the empire" and wish to destroy this identified enemy. Cocaine production in Colombia is protected by FARC armed groups, and Colombian narcotic shipments into the United States and Europe are often directed through Venezuelan territory with the cooperation of high "Bolivarian" authorities.
The "Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela" is the leading oil-rich Marxist state, one of the world's largest oil producers, and one of the main U.S. suppliers of oil. Gasoline from Venezuelan oil purchased by U.S. citizens, oftentimes through Venezuela's wholly owned U.S. subsidiary CITGO, has enabled Hugo Chavez to puchase sophisticated planes, ships, and aircraft, much of it from Russia. Ecuador and Bolivia are active in exploiting their own resources, especially natural gas.
The security threat from the FARC and its governmental allies is serious and immediate. During the Cold War, communist revolutionaries had little money and were forced to depend upon subsidies from an often cash-strapped Soviet Union.
Today Latin American neo-Marxists are awash in money. The FARC obtains millions of dollars from narcotic sales, and supplements those funds with the proceeds from kidnapping and extortion. Venezuela is a world oil supplier, while Chavez allies Ecuador and Bolivia are attempting to exploit reserves of natural gas.
FARC and its state supporters, especially the Chavez regime, can afford to carry on a prolonged offensive against the United States with the object of isolating and then undermining the U.S. government. The aggression is real, so also must be the U.S. response.
